Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse Lands 2nd Best Domestic Opening

Sony's latest animated sequel, "Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse' has become the second biggest domestic opener of the year with $120.5 million collection at the box office.

The movie fell short of 'The Super Mario Bros. Movie' which had collected $146 million in its opening-weekend at the domestic US box-office.

Sequel to the Oscar-winning 'Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse', has earned a whopping $208.6 million on its total global weekend, as per Variety.

This makes it the 3rd biggest opening weekend among all 'Spider-Man' movies. The film has received good reviews and is enjoying positive word-of-mouth overall.

The opening weekend collection for the sequel in the international box-office is $88.1 million with China bringing in $17.3 million alone.

Made on a budget of $100 million, 'Across the Spider-Verse' looks set to bring in a lot more massive collection in the coming days.

The animated film narrative follows Miles and Gwen Stacy (Spider-Man and Spider-Woman) who go on a mission to save other Spider heroes from a powerful villain called Spot.

Miles and Gwen are voiced by Shameik Moore and Hailee Steinfeld. Other voiceovers include voices from Issa Rae, Brian Tyree Henry, Oscar Isaac and more.
