There are a lot of cool things going on at this first glance at Thor: Ragnarok trailer, more than what we have anticipated. “It’s a long story” Thor said in the trailer indicating the thrill action throughout the movie. To fully enjoy the epic of Thor: Ragnarok movie online we suggest you catch up with previous movies of Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Now, let’s dissect what have been revealed in the trailer, starting with the evil force of Hela that makes so many big troubles for our God of Thunder.
Hela Destroys Mjolnir
Yup, the ultimate weapon Mjolnir is destroyed in the movie by a lady with her bared hand despite Odin’s spell on Mjolnir “only those who’s worthy can leave”. Hela (Cate Blanchett), a classic villain in Thor comic, is the main villain who makes Thor (Chris Hemsworth) suffer a lot. From what we learn, Hela has no intention of going back. Her confrontation with Thor mark an end to Thor’s mighty Mjolnir and Thor’s banishment to a faraway land.
Hela as Villain Looks So COOL
Directing lesson 101: If you get Cate Blanchett to play evil mighty evil, make her look cool with everything you have. It’s worth the effort.
Hela appears at glances in the trailer, but her impression to audiences is undeniable. From shattering Mjolnir to leading her army taking down Asgard decreeing its end, Hela has marked her position of the main villain with powerful dark magic bringing down Asgard. How will Thor defeat this coolest villain ever and get back Asgard from her eveil force.
Meanwhile, on Sakaar…
After the fallen of Asgard, Thor is banished to the outlying planet of Sakaar which has been described of the planet of degenerated outlaws banned from their worlds. Taika Waititi’s interpretation of Sakaar has some influences from Star War Universe with countless creatures with various forms of appearance wondering around. Sakaar natives don’t welcome Thor when he falls down Sakaar and make him a gladiator in their arena for entertainment. It isn’t a surprise that Thor quickly become one of the top gladiators.
A Marvel-ous Haircut
In the trailer, we see Thor not only losing his Mjonir and his Asgard but also his glorious golden locks. He is dragged into Sakaar’s barbershop for gladiator by Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson) to have his hair shaved. There is no explanation for the reason Sakaar natives shave Thor’s hair, could be a marking that he is a prison; but we’re sure that Thor doesn’t like his hair being shaved. Later in the trailer, Thor appears with his new hair: shorter, more warrior-alike and cooler. You may ask yourself why they don’t shave Thor hair earlier.
As if the cast of Thor: Ragnarok movie wasn’t cool enough, Marvel Studios makes Jeff Freaking Goldblum as The Grandmaster in Taika Waititi’s upcoming sequel. The Grandmaster, in the comics, is one of the Elders of the Universe (a group including Benicio Del Toros – The Collector from Guardians of the Galaxy). In the movie, the Grandmaster is the ruler of Sakaar, and a celestial being interested in games of blood and steel. He enjoys watching people killing each other, hence the gladiator fights looking to be all the rage on Sakaar. Goldblum’s look in this movie is spectacular, and it fits in beautifully with the neon-cosmic motif that Waititi has brought to Ragnarok.
