Captain America Civil War full movie was a MCU movie that fans were most anticipated for in 2016. Not to be ignored though, is the third installment in the thunder god’s trilogy, Thor Ragnarok movie. It’s set to come out on November 3, 2017, leaving us tons of time to engage in everything we might see. What we really do know right now is that the stakes will be higher than never before.
Captain America Civil War movie online may face with the fate of the world’s politics, but Thor Ragnarok full movie will be involving a far greater universe. If there’s one thing the Thor films have done for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it’s helping contextualize the story in a more general frame. Marvel’s world includes far more than Earth, and bringing us the world of Asgard paints everything in wonderful, bold strokes.
1. The end is near
The term Ragnarok indicates at the end of days in Norse mythology, caused by the death of countless gods within the pantheon. It stands to reason that the Marvel film version will bring similarly apocalyptic stakes. We saw foreshadows to this effect in Thor’s seemingly out-of-left-field vision journey he undertook in Age of Ultron. The latest Avengers film spent a large number of time hinting at bigger stuffs for Thor, and soon we’ll see the climax of that effort.
This time, Thor will be on an adventure to obtain an ultimate weapon that will halt the world-ending event called Raganrok. Marvel has also published the official Thor: Ragnarok outline.
In Marvel’s Thor: Ragnarok, Thor is kept imprisoned on the other side of the universe without his powerful hammer and finds himself in a race against time to return to Asgard to stop Ragnarok – the destruction of his homeland and the end of Asgardian civilization – at the stakes of an all-new dangerous and powerful threat, the brutal Hela. But first he must strive through a deadly fighting contest that pits him against his old ally and fellow Avenger – the Incredible Hulk!
2.The come back of the Hulk
This time around, Hulk will play a huge role in Ragnarok, taking what they regard as “a cosmic road trip” with Thor. The two have often faced off one another as the mightiest physical specimens The Avengers have to offer, so an other-world pairing solely makes sense. The moment we last saw Bruce Banner, he was flying off in a Quinjet by himself.
The storyline of Ragnarok will rely heavily on Marvel’s “Planet Hulk” comics, conspicuously featuring the Hulk brawling with other powerful beings in gladiatorial contests (pictures of his gladiator armor can be seen here). That being said, Mark Ruffalo recently stated that “there will be a lot of humor in it”.
A leaked picture from the set of Thor Ragnarok movie (thanks to Twitter user Bigr1g) features what seems to be the Avengers’ Quinjet — the very same aircraft that Bruce Banner/The Hulk took off with at the end of Avengers: Age of Ultron. This hints that Thor Ragnarok movie will directly take place after the events in that movie.
3. Taika Waititi will be directing
Marvel has recently made a habit of shying away from well-known talented directors. Ragnarok is definitely no exception, with the studio following Taika Waititi to direct this time around. Waititi’s greatest work to date has been the vampire mocking-documentary, What We Do in the Shadows, so he’s quite new to the world of high-budget superheroes. It’ll be fun, to say the least, to see what the newbie can bring to the screen; a strong effort could win him a seat at the Marvel table for the predictable future – an enviable position for any director.
Regarding specifics, Waititi lately released quite a handful of details in a Reddit AMA, running through the tone of the movie, what he has in mind, and tons more.
4. A cadre of new characters will be introduced in Thor Ragnarok
Thor comes with an already shown cast of characters: our main god of thunder, Loki, Heimdall, and Lady Sif among them. Ragnarok will see the new involvement of a series of additional characters.
As of now, Cate Blanchett has joined as Hela, Tessa Thompson (Creed) has been cast as Valkyrie, Jeff Goldblum will be participating in the film as the Grandmaster, Karl Urban will play Skurge, and Sam Neill will join the cast in a role yet to be revealed. Coming back to continue their roles will be the Warriors Three, although it seems as though Natalie Portman is officially done with the series. You can see the full cast list for the movie here.
5. It will help connect to Avengers: Infinity War
It has been announced that Thor Ragnarok will serve as a bridge to Avengers: Infinity War. The movie will provide us Thanos in full force, as he collects the multiple Infinity Stones scattered across the galaxy.
Given Ragnarok’s apocalypse-level stakes, it would appear understandable for Thanos’ journey for universal supremacy to get set up at least tangentially. We’ve already seen Thor start figuring out this scheme, and his journey will kick into full gear in this following movie.
6. The return of Loki
Given that the name Loki popped up in the mid-credits scene in Doctor Strange, it should come unsurprisingly to anyone that Thor’s dear twisted brother will be returning as a major player. A recent picture tweeted by Chris Hemsworth appears to imply that the duo will spend some time on Earth, where they’ll seemingly come across Earth’s magical protector, Doctor Strange (more on that next).
