The first Tomb Raider 2018 trailer for Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studio and Warner Bros. Pictures’ Tomb Raider reboot movie project – featuring Oscar-winner Alicia Vikander – is now available online.
You can take a look for yourself the trailer for Tomb Raider (courtesy of co-star Daniel Wu) right down below.
After Angelina Jolie fiercely ruled the two Tomb Raider installments that were released back in the 2000s, the new and improved big screen reprise of Tomb Raider 2018 film aims to firmly take on the trend of astounding films based on video games. Tomb Raider 2018 movie dives further into Lara Croft’s origins by returning back to the starting point of her career as an adventurer, as she sets out on a mission in order to find her long-lost father (as portrayed by Dominic West).
Roar Uthaug (The Wave) is in charge of directing this Tomb Raider reboot installment and seems to be bringing an impressive action/adventure approach to the series with his personal taste. The Lara Croft character herself is still as well-known a fixture of modern pop culture as ever before, following the establishment of the 2013 Tomb Raider video game franchise reboot and its 2015 sequel, Rise of the Tomb Raider. Vikander has made a promise that the Tomb Raider 2018 film reboot will endeavor to honor Lara Croft’s Tomb Raider video game origins, while also incorporating refreshing new material into the work. The first trailer for the film brings us a little sneak peek of how it aims to go about executing all that promises.
After the release of the official Tomb Raider 2018 poster, audiences as well as fans all over the world now have a clearer view of what to expect from Vikander’s challengingly take on Lara Croft, in gratitude towards the film’s theatrical trailer. Vikander is feasibly featured front and center in the action-pack footage included here, while the preview at grand further teases the starting story of her adventure in the movie and the lengths to which she will head to so as to finally find and rescue her father.
UPDATE: Sad new, the Tomb Raider 2018 trailer has been pulled down for the moment.
As the first glimpse at the brand new big screen featuring our Lara Croft, the trailer appears quite promising. The action scenes that are spotted in this trailer footage seem to be relied heavily on those in the 2013 Tomb Raider video game reboot, which is in fact intriguing to watch (specifically for those who were longing for a faithful adaptation). Whether it’s Lara making a run in the hallway while skillfully dodging all those swinging sharp blades, making a leap through a shattering plane, or escaping a boat that is just about to be overturned, there seems to be no shortage of smoothly flawless action to keep audiences amused until next year arrives.
While the action is definitely the selling point of Tomb Raider 2018 film, and so is Vikander. Tomb Raider 2018 trailer makes sure (as if there was any doubt, am I right?) that Tomb Raider is her pedal, and with all hope that it will be the beginning of her own hit series. She is surrounded by an astounding supporting cast, with the trailer even offering up a look at Walton Goggins’ villainous role, but no one is expected to be capable of stealing the spotlight from the film’s Oscar-winning star. With this being solely just the first peek at the video game adaptation installment, there should be tons of more to come in the near future, so be anticipated!
