People have already seen new character such as the powerful villain Hela (Cate Blanchett) and potential-to-be-Thor’s-love-one Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson) introduced themselves in Thor Ragnarok trailers.
They have also seen an old friend from work, Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), also smashed his way into in one of the trailers. Still, there is a question remained “What about Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch)?” as everyone knowing that Strange and Thor meet from the post-credit of Doctor Strange. The appearance of the Sorcerer Supreme in the upcoming Marvel movie has gotten people really excited, but Taika Waititi has kept his role under wraps until now.
The recently released international trailer of Thor Ragnarok shows Doctor Strange giving an ominous warning to the God of Thunder. “Thor, I sense a great change in your future. Destiny has dire plans for you, my friend” Doctor Strange warns. However, the warning did not have Thor (Chris Hemsworth) shivering in his boots. If anything, the warning only made him eager to face whatever challenge there is ahead. “I have dire plans for destiny” Thor replies. The Odinson should have been more concerned, since his future enemy is truly a force to be reckoned with. Blanchett even said that the reason she decided to play Hela was because she makes a grand entrance in the Thor franchise.
Hela has the honor of being the first to destroy Mjölnir. Many failed to wield that mighty hammer, but Hela crushes it in a single grip. “That had me at ‘hello’ actually” – Blanchett said of her character destroying Thor’s weapon – “I thought that was really exciting that they were prepared to destroy Thor’s power in the first few minutes. It’s a nice entrance.”
Thor will team up with Hulk, his half-brother Loki (Tom Hiddleston), and Valkyrie to defeat Hela. It’s surprising that Loki would be teaming up with Thor, but due to Hela’s power, Hiddleston said Loki does not really have much of a choice.
“It’s the kind of destruction that both Thor and Loki have never seen, on a scale of terror they’ve never ever seen before. So, they fall back on their brotherhood fractured though it is to see what they can do to stop her” – Hiddleston told IGN.
