Who Is in the 2018 Reboot Movie of Tomb Raider?

Tomb Raider is a famous video-game-adapted movie franchise, and it is going to hit the reboot button and will finally be bouncing back to the big screen next year. Fans have been waited almost fifteen years since the release of the slightly underwhelming Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life featuring Angelina Jolie.

Tomb Raider 2018 Film

Directed by Norwegian director Roar Uthaug and written by Geneva Robertson-Dworet, Tomb Raider movie will be out on March 16, 2018 and we will see Lara Croft embark on an expedition to find her long-lost father. We here to share with you information of Tomb Raider movie’s cast.

Alicia Vikander – Lara Croft

This Oscar-winning Swedish actress will be taking over from Angelina Jolie and will be playing a slightly younger Lara Croft. Vikander’s Lara will probably have a lot more in common with the Lara in Rise of the Tomb Raider 2018 film rather than with the Lara of Tomb Raider 2013. We expect a grittier, more down-to-earth take on the iconic adventurer.

Check out Alicia Vikander’s Oscar-winning performance in The Danish Girl or her haunting performance in Ex Machina, and you will agree with me that her participation in the movie guarantee a great movie to watch.

Walton Goggins – Mathias Vogel

Walton Goggins has been cast as the movie’s chief villain Mathias Vogel. The actor has described his character as “confused, angry and desperate”. Based on the first name alone, it would suggest that this movie may be an adaptation of the 2013 game after all, but this has yet to be confirmed by the studio.

Some fans had speculated that he would be playing Von Croy based on the hat that appears in his Instagram photo. However, the speculation was largely put to rest when the actor posted a photo of his trailer on Instagram a few weeks later.

Goggins is famous for playing villains on screen. He received critical acclaim for his performance in the Justified and was commended for his performance as the sadistic fight trainer Billy Crash in the Django Unchained.

Daniel Wu – Lu Ren

Daniel Wu is a Chinese-American actor, director and martial artist. He will play Lu Ren, a ship captain who will partner with Lara Croft on her quest to find her father. He has been participated in over 60 movies including Into the Badlands as a deadly assassin searching for enlightenment in a ruthless land.

His character may possible be replacement for Conrad Roth as Croft’s mentor. Uthaug has made no secret of the fact that the movie may stray from the events and lore of Crystal Dynamics’ game series, so there’s a good chance we won’t be seeing Roth in this installment.

Dominic West – Lord Croft

Dominic West has been brought on board to play Lara Croft’s archaeologist father. West’s most recent work includes the Showtime drama series The Affair, the WWI drama Testament of Youth, and the hugely successful 2016 Pixar film Finding Dory as he voicing the sea lion Rudder.
